President Donald Trump just issued a bombshell statement. People are stunned by this reversal — and it’s about the coronavirus. No one expected such a bold announcement, especially the mainstream media.
Trump said that even though COVID-19 “came from China” and doesn’t regret using the term “Chinese virus,” he has “decided we shouldn’t make any more of a big deal out of it. I think I made a big deal. I think people understand it.”
Americans knew why Trump identified the virus like he did, but apparently, it was either lost on the media or they just decided to ignore his actual words and accuse him of “racism” for simply being factual.
However, since Trump is confident that Americans understood his reasoning — it was for the sake of accuracy and also to call out China — he has decided to shift away from the term. “Everyone knows it came from China,” he said.
He also tweeted: “It is very important that we totally protect our Asian American community in the United States, and all around the world. They are amazing people, and the spreading of the Virus is not their fault.”
Of course, thinking people knew he wasn’t being racist by calling it the “Chinese virus” in the first place, and it’s sad that he had to be distracted by a fake controversy. But he decided to end it so everyone could move on.
