Conservative superstar and radio host Rush Limbaugh just shocked America. The news has dropped about a conservative sellout — it happened this week and now people are wondering what will happen next.
“What happened yesterday at the Supreme Court may be the biggest sellout of conservatism by conservative justices in the history of the Supreme Court on four different issues,” said Limbaugh. Truly, what happened on our nation’s highest court is disheartening to even explain.
Limbaugh spent much of his time focusing on the court’s decision in Bostock v. Clayton County. In a 6-3 ruling authored by Justice Neil Gorsuch, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was rewritten from the bench “to include LGBTQ people” and the result “is gonna be a mess,” said Limbaugh.
The ruling will predominately impact employment law and, subsequently, the consequences for religious freedom and conscience could be severe. There will likely be no end to the litigation that will emerge due to this ruling and the legal fight is going to last for years.
In a scathing pair of dissents, Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Brett Kavanaugh accused the majority of judicial activism.”There is only one word for what the court has done today: legislation,” wrote Alito. “We are judges, not Members of Congress,” wrote Kavanaugh.
This would certainly be enough for constitutionalists to be aggravated. Unfortunately, however, the Supreme Court also refused to take up a handful of Second Amendment cases and upheld sanctuary cities as lawful. This is not the conservative court Americans were promised.
