Former Republican Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield is facing charges of molesting his sister-in-law when she was 15.
Police are investigating the shocking allegations made by the accuser, now 27, that allege that Chatfield molested her when she was a student of Northern Michigan Christian Academy School.
The victim alleged that Chatfield’s crimes continued until July of 2021. If proven true, Chatfield’s monstrous actions could land him a lengthy prison sentence.
The accuser’s lawyer, Jamie White, issued a statement saying, “Her and her family, they’re working through it. They’re looking forward to working with law enforcement to bring this allegation to conclusion and (bring) accountability for others that have been harmed.”
Chatfield served in the Michigan House of Representatives in 2014 and became the state’s youngest Speaker of the House in 2019 in over a century.
Chatfield is innocent until the accusations against him are proven, and Americans would do well to remember that as the investigation is conducted.
