Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) has introduced legislation that will ban members of the Chinese Communist Party from purchasing land in the United States.
Currently, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States reviews any foreign entity attempting to purchase land. Representative Roy and his colleagues recognize that review and scrutiny are not enough, and an outright ban is needed.
Representative Roy issued a statement saying, “In their quest for global domination, China has been buying up land and strategic infrastructure all over the world and in the United States. Direct Chinese investment in the US economy is a major threat to the American way of life and requires that we take serious action to thwart the Chinese Communist Party from ever seizing control of strategically valuable domestic assets in the US.”
Americans have been kept in the dark about the true extent of Chinese expansionism. Swift and decisive action must be taken if we are to counter them successfully.
Representative Roy continued saying, “In Texas, a Chinese-based energy company purchased more than 130,000 acres of land near Laughlin Air Force Base and is now attempting to build a wind farm to access the U.S. power grid.”
Companies associated with the CCP are often used as vehicles for subterfuge and influence. The House and Senate must pass this bill to ensure that the protection of our infrastructure.
