Former Heisman Trophy winner and conservative favorite Tim Tebow has made an official comeback to the National Football League. Tebow signed a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars after converting to a tight end and is hoping to make the 53-man roster for the upcoming season.
American’s seem to be excited about Tebow’s return as one day after he signed his deal with Jacksonville, all of the top five selling items on NFLShop.com were Tebow related.
Tebow didn’t have the skills to make it in the NFL as a quarterback, and the media circus made teams stay away from him. Now that he has transitioned to a position that better suits his skills, his value was tantalizing enough to make Jacksonville bring him on.
Tebow’s return puts the situation of former San Francisco 49’ers quarterback turned activist Colin Kaepernick back in the limelight. Some claimed that Tebow’s return to the NFL only proves that Kaepernick was unfairly blacklisted.
Those who make such claims ignore the fact that Tebow clearly has potential from switching positions while Kaepernick didn’t even want to play football. After all, Kaepernick voided his last contract in the NFL to pursue a career in activism.
Tebow remained committed to sports and now gets another shot while Kaepernick makes millions creating division and racial unrest in America.
