CNN reported this week that China significantly underreported the number of coronavirus cases it identified in the early months of the coronavirus, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) had an interesting reaction to the “revelation.”
Cruz tweeted “exclusive”? at the news, which CNN said came from documents leaked by a Chinese health worker who wanted to honor his co-workers and their work with those who had the virus.
Cruz may have been referring to earlier intelligence reports that China might have underreported its numbers by a factor as much as 50.
Crematoriums were reportedly operating 24 hours a day for weeks at a time into March and April, which would suggest far more than the 2,500 to 6,000 deaths reported by China during that time period.
A severe spike in influenza cases also exacerbated the problems being experienced at the time.
