China’s foreign ministry threatened to retaliate against the U.S. over the latest arms sales between the U.S. and Taiwan.
The U.S. State Department announced that it had, “approved the potential sale of three weapons systems to Taiwan, including sensors, missiles, and artillery that could have a total value of $1.8 billion.”
These arms sales are one of Taiwan’s only ways to counter Chinese aggression as the Communist nation threatens to overwhelm democratic Taiwan.
China’s foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said, “China urges the US side to fully recognize the very damaging nature of arms sales to Taiwan, … stop arms sales to and military ties with the Taiwan region, cancel its arms sales plans to avoid further harming China-US relations and cross-strait peace and stability. China will make a legitimate and necessary reaction in the light of the development of the situation.”
China alleges that these arms sales harm “cross-straight peace and stability” when in reality these arms sales are the single reason that China hasn’t conquered Taiwan.
China’s aggression against democratic states like Taiwan is why it is crucial for us to have a President who will stand up to China’s bullying. Will Joe Biden really have what it takes to stand up against China?
