The Chinese government just attacked. America is in shock and President Donald Trump’s administration has responded. We will not tolerate aggression from a communist state hellbent on manipulating our nation.
“The FBI is investigating the targeting and compromise of U.S. organizations conducting COVID-19-related research by [the People’s Republic of China]-affiliated cyber actors and non-traditional collectors,” said the FBI.
In other words, they have compiled evidence that the Chinese government has been conducting cyberattacks in order “to obtain valuable intellectual property (IP) and public health data related to vaccines, treatments, and testing.”
The FBI did not say whether anything was stolen by the Chinese government, only that the activity has been “observed” and, working the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), they are taking action.
Due to COVID-19 and China’s alleged attempts to downplay its severity, the United States isn’t just on guard in the digital realm. It was recently announced that President Trump has started cutting financial ties as well.
At the direction of Trump, Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia ordered the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) to “immediately halt all steps associated with investing” U.S. tax dollars in Chinese firms.
