Texas Rep. August Pfluger (R) told Fox News that around 15,000 Haitian migrants are now camping in Del Rio under squalid conditions as they wait for processing by Customs and Border Patrol.
“Speaking to Border Patrol agents, the worst is yet to come, they’re worried about what is behind here, they’re worried about co-ordination with Mexico,” Pfluger said as he visited Del Rio.
The surge from 4,000 to the current 15,000 happened when Biden halted deportation flights, and continues even though they have now resumed.
DHS said it was sending more agents and staff to the region and that most of the migrants will be sent back to Haiti because of Title 42 public health protections.
But meanwhile, border agents are hoping there won’t be any unrest among the huge numbers, acknowledging that they are vastly outnumbered.
