Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) couldn’t even stop herself from using the death of a police officer to spew her anti-gun rhetoric.
When Ella French was killed and her male partner critically wounded during a traffic stop on Saturday night, Lightfoot declared a day of mourning for the city.
But in her next tweet, she declared guns a “common enemy” of both those who support police and those who don’t.
“Some say we don’t do enough for the police. Others say we do too much. All of this must stop. We have a common enemy: it’s guns & the violence they bring,” she tweeted.
The city already has some of the strictest laws in the entire country, so it’s not exactly clear what else Lightfoot can do to stop the huge number of shootings in the city.
