House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on Fox&Friends Tuesday that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) put the Derek Chauvin trial in jeopardy by making comments that protesters should “become more confrontational” if they didn’t get “justice.”
McCarthy said that the justice system worked in Chauvin’s case, but that Waters may have given Chauvin cause for appeal with her comments.
He also faulted Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the Democrats for condoning the comments and failing to hold Waters to account by voting against a censure resolution against Waters.
“I think the Democrats have to go home and answer for their vote yesterday,” he stated. “It was an easy vote to have censure. It was, I think, across all Americans would agree.”
He said that if Chauvin’s guilty verdict were overturned, the country would be in “chaos.”
