Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) just shocked the world. The impeachment witch-hunt against President Trump is coming to an end — and much sooner than Democrats would prefer.
McConnell has announced that the Senate will not participate in “new fact-finding” in the case and “strongly suggested that a motion to dismiss” the articles of impeachment would be on the table, according to Breitbart.
The motion to dismiss would reportedly come shortly after opening arguments, meaning McConnell has no intention of drawing out a trial — especially given his criticisms of the “slapdash” work of House Democrats.
“By any ordinary legal standard, what House Democrats have assembled would appear to be woefully, woefully inadequate to prove what they want to allege,” said McConnell.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has also made it clear that he would like to dismiss the charges quickly. Democrats know their game is over, which is why Speaker Pelosi might play another trick.
Pelosi is reportedly weighing a despicable option — to delay sending articles of impeachment to the Senate in order to bully Republicans into doing what Democrats want. Good luck with that, Nancy.
