Representative Justin Amash (I-MI) announced he will not run for President after exploring his options with the libertarian party.
Amash is best known for his Never-Trump political leanings which led him to leave the Republican party last year.
Amash took to Twitter to make his announcement that, “I’ve concluded that circumstances don’t lend themselves to my success as a candidate for president this year, and therefore I will not be a candidate.”
President Trump’s interactions with State governments were what prompted Amash to mull a possible run in the first place.
Considering Amash’s reputation is built entirely on being Never-Trump, it is unlikely he had much potential as a third party candidate. Democrats already have a monopoly on the Never-Trump position.
Amash earned the ire of Republicans for not only resisting President Trump but for resisting Republican positions that President Trump was pushing. Amash’s political career may have ended before it began.
