Great Britain just reversed course in a huge way and China is furious. The communist nation never expected Prime Minister Boris Johnson to change his mind, but it has happened. This is a major development.
In a major blow to a Chinese-based technology firm, “Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reportedly changed his mind on allowing Huawei to build 35 percent of Britain’s 5G networks,” reported Breitbart News this week.
Like the United States, the United Kingdom has been heavily dependent on Chinese firms for technology, but this is all about to change. President Donald Trump has already banned Huawei from doing business with U.S. companies.
As reported by Breitbart, Huawei is “effectively state-owned” and therefore has strong ties to China’s communist government. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is now looking more closely at other options.
It has been a perfect political storm against China. Between the Chinese government trying to crack down on protests in Hong Hong and allegedly covering up the Wuhan coronavirus, China has been backed into a corner.
Furthermore, even before Trump became president, he effectively highlighted the economic manipulation and outsized global influence of China — calling for a major shift in relations. It appears the UK is now on board.
