A series of videos has come to light that question both the credibility of leaked statements by former National Security Adviser John Bolton and Democrats’ belief that he would be a credible impeachment witness.
An August 2019 clip in which Bolton speaks on Ukraine mentions nothing about a quid pro quo but does say that fighting corruption in Ukraine was an “important priority” for the Trump administration.
Bolton also said in the same remarks that Trump’s relationship with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky was “warm and cordial,” and no wrongdoing was mentioned.
Other clips from Fox News showed House impeachment manager Adam Schiff (D-CA) questioning Bolton’s credibility and saying he was “prone to conspiracy theories” in 2018 when Trump appointed him.
Schiff also questioned Bolton’s credibility in 2005 when Bolton was part of the George W. Bush administration and said that he “politicized intelligence.”
