HBO’s Real Time host and liberal activist Bill Maher called for a reversal and pushback on “cancel culture.”
Maher held a panel discussion with Bari Weiss, a former New York Times Opinion editor, and Thomas Chatterton Williams, a columnist for Harper’s Magazine.
The three discussed the recent letter which they and several prominent writers, artists, and activists signed that said, “Free exchange of information and ideas, the lifeblood of a liberal society, is daily becoming more constricted.”
Maher said, “As a guy who did a show called Politically Incorrect and another called Real Time, thank you, because we need a pushback on cancel culture.”
The panel that was made up entirely of leftists were in agreement that cancel culture had to go and has no place in a nation that values individual freedom.
Maher has gone as far as to call cancel culture a “cancer on progressivism.” The rise of the radical left is pushing centrist liberals and conservatives together and that could have a huge impact in November.
