During an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was asked if she agreed with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s suggestion that Judge Amy Barrett’s confirmation could be delayed by “impeaching” Barr. Pelosi quickly dodged the question.
Tapper said that Ocasio-Cortez “did not rule out this long-shot effort to try to stall” the process. “Now, you haven’t ruled it out.” Pelosi answered, “Well, I’m not familiar with what suggestion of the distinguished congresswoman made.”
But then Tapper directly requested a “yes or no” response to the question. “Well, what is the use of talking about that?” she responded. “What we’re talking about is the price the Republican senators will pay if they vote to overturn the pre-existing medical condition.”
Pelosi, of course, is playing coy in case she decides to impeach Barr. She is also claiming that President Donald Trump and Republicans want to overturn the law that protects Americans with pre-existing conditions and allows them to purchase health insurance.
However, what Pelosi and Democrats aren’t saying is that even if the Supreme Court, along with a newly-confirmed Judge Amy Barrett, strike down Obamacare, Trump has vowed that pre-existing conditions will still be covered. But this doesn’t the fit Democrats’ narrative.
