Democrat presidential hopeful Joe Biden’s top advisers said on Wednesday that if elected, Biden would seek permission from European allies before deciding whether to put further tariffs on goods coming from other countries.
The advisors called the plan a “new approach to globalization.”
Neither Biden nor his advisors have said whether they would lift the tariffs President Donald Trump placed on China and other countries.
“He’s not going to lock into any premature position before we see exactly what we’re inheriting,” one advisor said.
Biden said in August that he would end the tariffs on China, but later changed his mind.
