A new Rassmussen poll showed that most Americans think President Joe Biden lied about the Afghanistan pullout and they want him to resign because of it.
Biden said that he was never advised to keep 2,500 troops in Afghanistan to keep the country stabilized, while Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair General Mark Milley testified to Congess that Biden was advised to do so. Milley also said that former President Donald Trump had planned to follow the military’s advice and keep the troops in place.
Rassmussen asked whether Biden should have kept troops in the country, and 60% said yes, while only 24% said no.
Respondents were also asked whether they believed Milley or Biden about the advice to keep troops in the country, and 57% believed Milley; only 21% believed that Biden told the truth.
Finally, they were asked whether they thought Biden should resign because of his actions. A majority, 55% thought that he should resign, and 39% said he should not resign.
