President Joe Biden announced his intention to drop the Title 42 protection for the U.S. border, which has been used to send sick or unhealthy people back to their country of origin.
The rule was originally put in place because of COVID-19, but is now being used to deport migrants.
Biden’s tentative decision is to end the restriction on May 23, but is not final.
Both Democrat Senators from Arizona, Mark Kelly and Kyrsten Sinema, came out and said that the rule should remain until the administration is prepared to deal with an even higher influx of illegal immigrants.
It’s a CDC-generated rule, but Biden could keep it going if he wanted to.
