A New York Times columnist thinks Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden made a mistake by saying he would consider more lockdowns if elected in November.
Opinion columnist Bret Stephens said that the comments were Biden’s “biggest blunder in the campaign thus far.”
Stephens worried that experts now say measures other than lockdowns can slow the virus and that further lockdowns are too costly for economies and workers.
It’s dangerous for Biden to say he will give power over to unelected health experts that voters may not trust, Stephens said.
And with three more months for people to get tired of coronavirus restrictions and begin to see them as unnecessary, Biden’s mistake could be a lot worse by November.
