A task force to develop recommendations for a Democrat platform ahead of the November election is moving in a progressive direction in some, not all, policy areas.
While the plan for healthcare looks like it intends only to expand Obamacare rather than go for a Medicare for All proposal, other provisions on climate change would speed up the timetable for achieving zero-net carbon emissions.
The task force was formed with supporters of both presumptive nominee Joe Biden and his chief rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT), who dropped out of the race when it became clear he wouldn’t win.
It was seen as a way to win over Sanders supporters, many of whom were reluctant to join up with Biden because of his more moderate positions.
Looks like the progressive left has succeeded in moving Biden even more to the left, but will enough voters follow to get him elected?
