Former Vice President Joe Biden just blew up on national television. His presidential campaign has been completely humiliated, and this could be the end of it all. There is no turning back now.
During an interview with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace, Biden stuttered and stammered through his remarks and repeatedly apologized. It was one of his most awkward exchanges ever — and that is a real accomplishment.
Wallace set up Biden to criticize President Trump on the nation’s coronavirus response, and he launched into an incoherent rant. But he had at least enough self-awareness to say, “That’s a stupid way to say that.”
However, while this was the first admission, it certainly wasn’t the last. Biden then said he was “sorry,” but Wallace prompted him to continue. “No. No. Probably best I don’t,” he said.
But if that wasn’t enough, there’s even more. Biden tried to call Trump xenophobic, but, at the same time, he complimented Trump for calling out racism against Chinese-Americans. It was an odd back and forth.
“I don’t know,” Biden said. “It’s like watching a yo-yo.” And then came the final apology. “I shouldn’t have said it that way,” he said to Wallace. It feels that way. I want to — that’s okay,” she responded.
