At the annual Washington Conference on the Americas, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said people in the Western Hemisphere should not look at borders as separating nations, but as a “point of connection.”
“Rather than viewing borders solely as the lines that mark national boundaries and that divide us from one another, we should see borders as a point of connection, as the place where the flow of people and goods from different countries interact and intersect,” Mayorkas said.
That explains a lot about U.S. border policy and why our southern border is being overrun with illegal immigrants that are then released into the U.S. while they wait for asylum and deportation hearings.
Never mind that human traffickers are abusing women and children as they take thousands of dollars per person to get them to the border.
So much for treating immigrants with “dignity and respect.”
