An unexpected betrayal just completely stunned the White House. President Donald Trump is furious — and he has every right to be. This is enraging.
In a statement before the House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump for the second time, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) announced that she would join the Democrats. “I will vote to impeach the President,” she said.
“The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack,” said Cheney in her statement. “Everything that followed was his doing.”
The violent rioting that erupted at the Capitol should be explicitly condemned by all Americans, but Cheney is leaving out some important information: Trump called for supporters to “peacefully and patriotically” protest.
“I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your votes heard today,” said Trump at a rally that took place just before supporters marched to the Capitol.
It would seem that Cheney hasn’t liked Trump all along. The violence at the Capitol — which everyone has condemned, including Trump — was utterly horrific, but to say he welcomed this attack is highly inaccurate.
