Democrats are trying to start another witch-hunt. Shockingly, they just called for the resignation of Attorney General William Barr — and now former Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is weighing in.
“The notion that Barr should resign is about the dumbest damn thing I’ve ever heard,” said Gowdy on Fox News. He also took Democrats to task for being “factually wrong” about the situation.
Gowdy is referring to the Department of Justice (DOJ) intervening in the case of Roger Stone, one of President Trump’s longtime allies. The DOJ has recommended a lighter sentence than originally sought.
On the surface, Democrats are accusing Barr and the DOJ of being influenced by one of Trump’s tweets about the case, however, Gowdy corrected the timeline with absolute precision.
“I can tell you this: Bill Barr was aware of this recommendation before President Trump ever tweeted a single syllable, a single character,” Gowdy said. Barr was not “motivated to move because of this tweet.”
Democrats should be afraid that Barr has agreed to testify on the matter before the House Judiciary Committee next. He is going to make Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) look like a fool for calling him forward.
