Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) is taking school districts that are defying the state ban on mask mandates to court.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) issued an executive order forbidding any government entity from implementing mask requirements.
So far, six school districts have defied Abbott’s executive order, and Attorney General Paxton’s office has filed six lawsuits against those school districts.
Paxton issued a statement saying, “The Texas Supreme Court has sided with the law, and the decision to enforce mask mandates lies with the governor’s legislatively granted authority. Mask mandates across our state are illegal, and judges must abide by the law. Further non-compliance will result in more lawsuits.”
The Republican philosophy towards masking is to leave it as a personal decision made by an individual citizen. Governor Abbott wants to ensure that government agencies don’t overrule an individual’s choice and force them to mask up.
Liberals in Texas will have to come to grips with the fact that their dreams of totalitarian mandates won’t take flight in Texas.
