An attempted assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi failed on Sunday, and the PM was unhurt.
It was not known who sent the explosive-laced drone that attacked Kadhimi’s house, but the attack followed threats from Iran-backed militias.
It was reported that two of the PM’s bodyguards were injured, but in a statement, he said that everyone was “fine.”
Praise God, I am fine and so are those who work with me,” he said.
Kadhimi asked “for calm and restraint on the part of everyone for the good of Iraq” in the statement. “Cowardly rocket and cowardly drones do not build countries or futures,” he said.
