The Arizona Republican Party has filed a lawsuit that demands a hand audit of votes in the state by precinct rather than by voting center.
The state had said it wanted to audit votes in voting centers set up for the first time in this election in Maricopa County, but there were only 175 voting centers while there were 743 precincts.
Auditing precincts would give a better picture of any vote irregularities, the Arizona GOP said. Audits look at 2% of randomized votes to see if there are any discrepancies.
The recount could provide a reversal of the 11,000 vote lead Joe Biden currently has over President Donald Trump in the state.
Flipping a state when the difference in votes is more than a few thousand is highly unlikely unless some kind of widespread fraud is discovered.
