Arizona passed a bill last week that would require schools to be transparent about what they are teaching kids.

SB 1211 passed along party lines in the Republican-majority legislature and would require teachers to post the specific materials they use in class on each school’s website.

Sen. Paul Boyer (R) said teachers need to submit lesson plans anyway, and that he thinks education may improve because of the bill.

“The heart of this bill is getting to all of the materials being available to parents because they need access,” bill sponsor Sen. Nancy Barto said. “They need to know what is being presented to their children.”

Democrats and teachers’ unions opposed the bill, of course, because many of them want to teach things they know parents will not approve of.
