Arizona Governor Doug Ducey appeared to decline a phone call from President Donald Trump Monday as he was publicly certifying the state’s election results.
The phone rang when he was about to sign the document, playing a “Hail to the Chief” ringtone, but Ducey looked at the display and then declined the call.
Ducey had previously said during an interview that he changed the ringtone to “Hail to the Chief” so he didn’t miss any direct calls from Trump.
Trump later blasted Ducey during a public hearing to air allegations of voter fraud in the state.
“Why would he sign when you have these incredible hearings going on that’s showing such corruption and such horrible fraud?” Trump asked. “We’re not going to forget what Ducey just did.”
