Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said on Instagram Tuesday that her statement dress at the Met Gala that read “Tax the Rich” wasn’t aimed at herself, but at people with “hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars.”
The congresswoman makes $174,000 a year representing New York and drives a Tesla that costs $35,000. A ticket to the Met Gala costs $30,000.
Ocasio-Cortez claimed that she attended the gala as part of her job in Congress and touted the designer of her dress as a “Black woman immigrant.” She also said that the “haters hated and the people who are thoughtful were thoughtful,” whatever that means.
The reality is that Democrat proposals to raise taxes do not only go after multimillionaires and billionaires. If AOC were part of a married couple with similar incomes, she could be subject to the proposed increases, not to mention if she earned any amount of income from a corporation.
As usual, Ocasio-Cortez does not know what she’s talking about and just spouts nonsense that makes sense to a few woke people while offending the working class she claims she’s trying to help.
