The state of Florida is about to have more Republican voters than Democrat ones, according to Vice Chairman of the Florida GOP Christian Ziegler.
In 2008, 700,000 more Democrats were registered in the state than Republicans, but by 2016, that lead had been cut to 320,000.
Now, there are only about 20,000 more Democrats than Republicans registered in the state.
“We’re going to overtake the Democrats,” Ziegler said. “This is something that we’ve been working hard on as a state party.”
Ziegler said many registered Democrats have flipped to Republican because of the extreme policies Democrats have continually espoused. “It’s going to be historic. For the first time ever in the State of Florida, we’re going to have more registered Republicans than Democrats, and that’s terrifying the Democrat Party both locally and nationally,” he said.
