New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is in more trouble as he is facing yet another investigation over allegations that he made sure his family skipped the line when it came to coronavirus tests.
New York Attorney General Letitia James said that the new report was “troubling” and wants the state Public Ethics Committee to look into these new allegations immediately, even as Governor Cuomo is already facing an investigation over accusations of sexual assault and harassment.
Attorney General James said in a statement on Thursday that, “The recent reports alleging there was preferential treatment given for COVID-19 testing are troubling. While we do not have jurisdiction to investigate this matter, it’s imperative that JCOPE look into it immediately.”
Cuomo allegedly worked with New York Health Commissioner Howard Zucker to ensure that Cuomo’s family and outside figures with ties to the administration received testing.
Richard Azzopardi, a top adviser to Cuomo, responded to the allegations saying that they were “insincere efforts to rewrite the past.”
It will be up to the New York Public Ethics Committee to investigate the matter, and hopefully, we will get the truth sooner rather than later. For Governor Cuomo, this latest story is yet another bad story in a long line of bad stories that have torpedoed the rising star’s career.
