Samaritan’s Purse CEO Franklin Graham praised Elon Musk’s stance on free speech in a message to his millions of social media followers Thursday night.
On Facebook and Twitter, Graham said, “Elon Musk announced [Thursday] that he’s raised the funds to purchase Twitter. I’m glad to see someone who cares so much about free speech get involved with this platform. He said, ‘Twitter has extraordinary potential. I will unlock it.’”
Twitter’s tendency to silence its opposition is scary to Graham.
“This concerns me as a Christian,” Graham said about Twitter’s authoritarian tendencies. “There are people who may disagree with our beliefs and our faith in Jesus Christ, but just like people of other religions, we have a right to share our beliefs even when they may not be popular.”
Musk recently bought a 9.2% stake in Twitter. He would like to do a takeover of the company to implement his free speech ideas, but the company is attempting to prevent Musk from doing so.
