The United States of America just struck back and China is shocked. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been knocked back — they never expected President Donald Trump’s administration to go this far.
In response to restrictions placed on American diplomates in China, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that the U.S. will respond in kind. “We are simply demanding reciprocity,” he said in a statement.
“Access for our diplomats in China should be reflective of the access that Chinese diplomats in the United States have and today’s steps will move us substantially in that direction,” Pompeo continued.
He also strongly criticized the CCP for its strongarm tactics against U.S. diplomats, which has been occurring for years. It should come as no surprise, then, given Trump’s position on China, that America is finally pushing back.
In fact, Trump has forced the Chinese government into a position it hasn’t been in for decades — one in which China has to do some groveling for once. China can no longer throw its weight around the world stage without accountability.
Whether it is the treatment of U.S. diplomats, the cover-up on COVID-19, restricting freedoms in Hong Kong, or manipulating the world economy, China has an actual adversary now that will provide a check on its power: the United States.
