Washington Post columnist and CNN political analyst Josh Rogin sounded the alarm by claiming that China is taking advantage of the war in Ukraine to gain a geopolitical advantage in Southeast Asia.
During an interview with CNN’s “New Day,” Rogin said, “Xi Jinping wants the world to not pay attention to what he’s doing and our job is to pay attention. Because what he’s doing is he’s rearranging the chessboard in Asia to China’s advantage, not ours.”
China has been remarkably busy in the past few months and many fear that China may be gearing up to invade Taiwan.
There has never been a better time for China to make a move. The world’s attention is focused on Ukraine and with President Joe Biden in office, the United States is weaker than it has ever been before.
Rogin continued by saying, “China has global ambitions, and they’re trying to advance in many, many places. And we’ve got to confront them in many, many places. And we can have all of these alliances and pivots to Asia. But if China keeps scooping up influence in all of these places close to us, then what’s it all for?”
Under President Biden’s “leadership,” China is on the ascent and could very well become the dominant world superpower in a coalition with Russia. Something needs to be done to counter China’s rising star before it is too late.
