Amazon warned customers on its blog and directly on the site over the weekend that some items may not be delivered as fast as normal and that certain items are temporarily out of stock.
“Inventory and delivery may be temporarily unavailable due to increased demand. Confirm availability at checkout,” a message on the site’s home page read.
Items may also not be delivered while they are out of stock, the online retail giant said.
The situation is expected to be temporary because of the items, like cleaning products, toilet paper and hand sanitizer, showing temporary high demand as people stock up over the coronavirus.
President Donald Trump is working with supermarket chains to ensure that the food and toiletry supply chain remains healthy so that people can get the items they want and need.
