Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) just called it quits. President Trump has been notified — this is major news and it’s sending DC into an uproar. The anti-Trump congressman has exposed himself.
During an appearance on CNN’s ‘State of the Nation’ with Jake Tapper, Schiff quit even pretending that this impeachment witch-hunt is real. He doesn’t plan to cooperate if the issue goes to a Senate trial.
For this to happen, the House would have to impeach Trump — which would be a travesty in and of itself. Apparently, however, Schiff believes he’s off the hook after that and won’t need to testify before the Senate.
“There is nothing to testify about,” said Schiff. “I think if the president or his allies in the Senate persist, it means they are not serious about what they are doing.” This is an ironic claim, given he’s the one who doesn’t want to answer questions.
Even Tapper tried to keep Schiff from weaseling out of the discussion. “But there are questions you could answer about your staff having been approached by the whistleblower before he filed his complaint and other matters,” said Tapper.
Predictably, Schiff just doubled-down on his excuse. “I don’t want to comment on it except to say that if they go down this road, it shows a fundamental lack of seriousness, a willingness to try to turn this into a circus,” said Schiff.
