Members of the House GOP are considering ethics charges against Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) for conduct toward fellow Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) during a Wednesday Intelligence Committee meeting.
Maloney allegedly broke House rules by accusing Nunes of lying and by insulting him, which is not allowed between representatives.
House Republicans believe Maloney was directed to try to goad Nunes into giving away information or saying something that could be used or weaponized against President Donald Trump, whom Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) is trying to investigate again after impeachment failed in January.
GOP members are waiting for the official transcript to decide whether to file charges against Maloney.
Nunes and Republicans have said that Schiff and other in the House may have been the source of leaks to Politico about the new investigations, which involve information about Presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden that were sent to key Trump allies before impeachment.
