Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was just caught and Democrats are shocked. They never expected Schiff’s double-talk to become a scandal — and now they will feel the consequences at the ballot box in November.
Schiff said from the Senate floor that it would be unacceptable for the president to ask the DOJ to investigate a political opponent, yet he has defended Obama’s actions against Trump, reported Breitbart.
“Schiff was responding to a query … about whether Obama would have had the authority to investigate suspected corruption by a son of Mitt Romney, Obama’s rival in his 2012 re-election campaign,” noted the report.
The hypothetical question, which was put forth by Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Lindsey Graham (R-TX), was reportedly “dismissed” by Schiff and he returned to his previous talking point.
However, Schiff didn’t feel this way back in April of 2019, when he wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post defending then-President Obama’s investigation into the campaign of Donald Trump.
In the op-ed, Schiff justified the investigation, saying, “If a foreign power possessed leverage, or the perception of it, over the president, that is a counterintelligence nightmare.”
