CNN’s Jim Acosta just got what he deserved. President Donald Trump and his supporters are smiling — Acosta was taken down by another member of the media. He never expected this to happen.
Jonathan Karl serves as both the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association and chief Washingon correspondent at ABC News. In his new book, Front Row at the Trump Show, he reportedly levels Acosta.
Among other things, Karl accuses Acosta of “playing into the explicit Trump strategy of portraying the press as the opposition party,” but he has also criticized Acosta in recent interviews — such as one with The Daily Beast.
“I will defend to the death his right to report from the White House, but I have some issues with the style in which he has done so,” said Karl. “We can be tough […] but I don’t think we should act like we are part of the resistance.”
It is obvious that Karl dislikes Trump, however, at least he has a line he will not cross. Acosta is all about getting into fiery debates in the White House press room. It must be a vain attempt to boost CNN’s already poor ratings.
Trump and Acosta, of course, have quite a history. Acosta’s White House press credential was even temporarily suspended and later restored. Trump has also called out some of Acosta’s dishonest questioning.
