An abortion ban announcement just stunned millions of Americans across the nation. This is absolutely incredible, and leftists are already furious.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) has asked the state legislature “to ban abortions that are sought on the basis of a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome,” according to a report from Breitbart News.
“Children with Down Syndrome are a gift to us all,” said Noem in a statement. “I am asking the South Dakota legislature to pass a law that bans the abortion of a preborn child, just because that child is diagnosed with Down Syndrome.”
Pro-abortion Democrats have long opposed commonsense prohibitions on abortion — even though they claim to be against discrimination. And that is exactly what abortion in the case of Down Syndrome is.
By supporting this law for South Dakota, Noem is showing the entire country that abortion should not be used to terminate an unborn child due to a pre-birth Down Syndrome diagnosis.
Abortion-on-demand is always immoral, however, exposing this particularly callous, discriminatory practice, which targets disabled children in the womb, is a welcome move. Noem should be commended for her pro-life work.
