Over the weekend, 30 people were shot in Chicago, and six of them died from their wounds.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s city saw more than 4,100 shooting victims in 2020 and 68 homicides, a marked increase from 2019.
Between coronavirus shutdowns that left people bored, restless and unemployed, and a summer of protests over perceived police brutality against blacks, there were multiple likely reasons for the increase.
It was a challenging time, and 2021 is not shaping up to be any better.
Already from January 1 to 21 of this year, there were 46 more shootings in Chicago than last year, for a total of 168. And these Democrat-run cities are talking about defunding the police?
