A new Economist/YouGov poll had good news for President Donald Trump about the upcoming presidential election.
When voters were asked about hypothetical matchups between Trump and top Democrat candidates, respondents said they thought Trump would win against all candidates by large margins of 20 to 30 points depending on the candidate.
Against Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), for instance, 48% thought Trump would win and only 29% thought that Sanders would win.
The poll also revealed that the booming economy is uppermost on voters’ minds and that they credit Trump with its success more than they do Obama, who has recently been trying to claim credit for it.
Trump was also shown to have unified the Republican party, with voters looking negatively at Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) who voted with Democrats for convicting Trump in the impeachment trial.
