Joe Biden has issued a stern warning to Vladimir Putin of Russia, throwing Biden’s (supposedly) good buddy Barack Obama under the bus in the process.
Instead of just laying out his plan to Putin, Biden felt the need to stress that what happened in 2014 under Barack Obama was NOT sufficient and wouldn’t happen again.
Jake Sullivan, Biden’s national security advisor, told reporters that Biden warned Putin not to repeat his 2014 excursion into Ukrainian territory, hinting that the way Barack responded back then was much too soft.
“I will look you in the eye and tell you, as President Biden looked President Putin in the eye and told him today, that things we did not do in 2014 we are prepared to do now,” Sullivan said. Biden will resort to “clear and decisive” actions that Barack did not back in 2014.
“The measures we have put on the table are designed to show the Russian government that should it choose to engage in such an invasion, there will be those consequences,” Sullivan concluded.
Barack Obama has yet to publicly respond to Biden’s criticism.
