Every few years Beto O’Rouke tries to convince America that his name isn’t Robert Francis (it is) by pursuing an office that he is never going to win.
Previously, it was the Presidency. Now, he’s looking at a gubernatorial run in Texas.
In an effort to see just how seriously voters are taking Beto this time, a recent poll asked if Texans were more likely to vote for Beto O’Rouke or a movie actor with absolutely zero experience in politics who has briefly mentioned considering running for governor.
Beto lost by 22%.
Forty-nine percent of Texans said they’d prefer Matthew McConaughey in this hypothetical matchup, compared to a paltry 27% who were for O’Rouke.
In case you’re wondering, Governor Greg Abbot beat both of the above candidates, with McConaughey still beating O’Rouke in a version of the survey that offered voters three choices.
