Senator Bernie Sanders just made a career-ending mistake. His presidential campaign is about to go down the tubes — he could finally be finished.
In a rare case of intellectual honesty, Sanders shocked hundreds of potential voters in the blue state of Minnesota and there’s no way the left is going to stand for it. “The first question you asked, do I believe in open borders? No, I do not,” he said.
Sanders was responding to a question posed by Tom Crann of Minnesota Public Radio about immigration. Then, the Vermont senator even had the audacity to say that “you need to have protection of our borders and you need people to do that.”
He stopped short of proposing that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished, even though someone reportedly screamed such a demand from the audience.
Of course, Sanders tried to talk out of both sides of his mouth as well. He said we need to abolish “the current disastrous immigration system” and railed against the recent ICE raids to hedge his bets.
Even so, Americans should note just how radical the Democratic Party has become. Sanders sounds a tick more ‘conservative’ on this issue compared to the likes of Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. And he won’t survive his party’s primary as a result.
