“I think we’ve reached a very sad point in our country where a hearing that is supposed to be about what the policies are becomes just attack, attack, attack,” Carson said.

“Secretary Carson lied to me and to Congress,” Wexton later tweeted. “He’s proven himself to be deceitful & inept as HUD Secretary. He should resign.”
Wexton was referring in part to a question she asked about potential changes to protections for transgender-identifying individuals at homeless shelters.
Carson later clarified that when he said the rule was “not in any way being altered,” he was referring specifically to a 2012 policy, though additions have been made to a 2016 rule.
