Dr. Ben Carson, a longtime ally of President Trump and a former presidential candidate himself, has issued a statement about his future. This is his official decision.
“I will certainly finish out this term,” Carson told Newsmax TV, referring to his as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. “I would be interested in returning to the private sector because I think you have just as much influence, maybe more, there.”
In a separate interview, he said, “President Donald J. Trump hired me to do a job as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and we are making tremendous progress ensuring our most vulnerable citizens are empowered with a path to self-sufficiency.”
“I always stand ready to serve this great President and the United States of America,” he concluded. This is the kind of patriotic, good-natured response Americans have grown to appreciate from Carson, going back to the 2016 campaign.
Back when President Trump nominated Carson to his current post, he couldn’t have said it any better. “Ben Carson has a brilliant mind and is passionate about strengthening communities and families within those communities.”
Whatever Carson decides to do after President Trump’s first term ends, you can be sure he will decide the same drive, passion, and intelligence to it that he’s brought to any other role he’s filled.
